About Chris

Well, where to begin!

My name is Chris Philpott, and I am the owner of this website. I’m 30 years old, as of writing this. I live in Whangarei, New Zealand. I’ve been living here since 1991, after my family moved back here from Ireland (Dad is Whangarei born-and-bred). I have a gorgeous daughter who is 10 years old, as of writing this. To be honest, life is pretty sweet right now.

In case you haven’t read anything at my blog, I’m obsessed with pop culture – television in particular. In 2010 I started writing On The Box, the TV blog over at Stuff.co.nz. In early 2011 I started OTB Unplugged, an off-shoot of the blog hosted at Tumblr where I post short reviews of everything I watch. Also in 2011, I started writing reviews for Stuff Entertainment and began contributing to The Dominion Post (Wellington) and The Press (Christchurch) as an occasional TV contributor.

Previous work included features for Scene Magazine, a local monthly in Whangarei, and a fortnightly technology column in the Whangarei Leader. I also contributed CD reviews and occasional pop culture-focused features to Investigate Magazine.

I also work full-time here in Whangarei for a company called Nightlife Music+Video. I’m also in the midst of a media studies degree.

In my spare-time (ha) I take short naps and figure out what I need to do next.

So, that’s me. You might be wondering why I’ve shared so much with you – the truth is, I couldn’t decide what to leave out.
